The combined market share of Energo-Pro Bulgaria and Energia Holding will slightly exceed 5.0% of the total electricity produced from hydro power plants in the country, which is far below the 15% threshold needed to have a dominant position, the Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) said in a statement earlier this week.
Energo-Pro Bulgaria, part of Czech energy provider Energo-Pro, operates eight hydro power plants in the Balkan country with a total installed capacity of some 103 megawatts (MW), while Energia Holding has six hydro power plants with a combined capacity of 62.82 MW, CPC added.
Energo-Pro Bulgaria also supplies electricity to northeastern Bulgaria through its power distribution units Energo-Pro Grid and Energo-Pro Sales.
