EIB mulls lending 8.0 mln euro for urban transport project in Sofia

SOFIA (Bulgaria), December 16 (SeeNews) – The European Investment Bank (EIB) said on Tuesday it is considering lending 8.0 million euro ($10 million) to the municipality of Sofia to co-finance an integrated urban transport project .

The project aims to improve the quality of public transport service in Sofia terms of speed, comfort and reliability and will increase the attractiveness of public transport in the urban area, thus reducing reliance on private cars and the negative impact of transport on the environment, the EIB said in a statement on its website.

The project is co-financed with EU funds under the operational programme Regional Development.
