The project, with total estimated cost of 212 million euro, aims to restore the original design parameters of the sections Mihaylovo-Kaloyanovetz, Stara Zagora-Zimnitza and Tzerkovsky-Burgas with a total refurbishment route of 177.4 kilometers, the EIB said in a statement published on its website.
The project, located on the Trans-European Transport Network and co-financed with the EU Cohesion Fund, will contribute to reduce journey times for freight and passenger traffic between Sofia and Burgas, on the Black Sea, and will improve the railway transport safety and regional connectivity, the statement said.
