February 22 (SeeNews) - EIB Global, the financial arm of the European Investment Bank (EIB) that lends outside the EU, said on Thursday it will provide an 11 million euro ($11.9 million) grant to Montenegro for the country's education programme.
It will help the country increase its schooling capacity by creating close to 1,700 new places for pupils and 530 full-time jobs for teachers, the EIB said in a press release.
More than 64 million euro will be invested in the Montenegro education programme, with the EIB providing an 18 million euro loan and a 2.5 million euro technical assistance grant under its Economic Resilience Initiative.
The programme will modernise and equip thirteen education facilities, which will upgrade their infrastructure, improve learning conditions and the quality of teaching.
Provided under Team Europe and channelled through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), the grant will also enable the construction of a new secondary school and the reconstruction of the Vladimir Nazor primary school in the capital Podgorica.
