December 28 (SeeNews) - EIB Global, the arm of the European Investment Bank (EIB) devoted to activities outside the EU, said it will provide a 2.75 million euro ($2.9 million) technical assistance grant to the Albanian Development Fund (ADF) for the preparation of a priority investment programme.

The programme will cover the area close to the border with Montenegro along Lake Shkoder and the Buna River at the main gateway to the Albanian Alps, enabling the construction of environmental, local transport, urban and tourism infrastructure in the counties of Shkoder and Lezhe, EIB Global said in a press release last week.

The technical assistance will enable the preparation of a capital investment plan and focus on delivering environmental, technical and social assessments, as well as bringing the selected projects closer to the implementation phase.

ADF is a public agency whose mission is to encourage a sustainable, balanced and cohesive socio-economic development at local and regional level. The ADF was established at the beginning of 1993, based on an agreement between the Albanian government and the World Bank.
