LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), December 19 (SeeNews) – The European Commission said on Friday it has ordered Slovenia to repay 8.7 million euro ($10.7 million) in agricultural policy funds because it failed to implement measures to restructure its sugar-making industry in line with EU rules.

The correction is made because of “the silos still present at the premises of the sugar factory benefiting from full dismantling,” the European Commission said in a statement.

The only sugar plant in Slovenia’s Tovarna sladkorja Ormoz was shut down in 2007.
