December 27 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will lend 75 million euro ($83.5 million) to UniCredit Leasing Croatia to support leasing finance of micro, small and medium companies, as well as energy efficiency investments in the country, it said on Friday.

The loan will introduce the Green Economy Transition (GET) Technology Selector, which will enable the leasing company to extend leases that finance the purchase of assessed and pre-approved, high performing energy-efficient technologies, EBRD said in a statement.

"We are pleased to cooperate with UniCredit Leasing Croatia to strengthen the role of leasing in the private sector. Better access to funds will encourage entrepreneurial activity which in turn will support the country’s continuing growth", Victoria Zinchuk, Head of EBRD Croatia, said.

UniCredit Leasing Croatia, fully owned by Zagrebacka banka [ZSE:ZABA] will focus on gaining new clients and expanding its operations outside of Zagreb, the statement said.

The EBRD has invested some 3.8 billion euro in Croatia since it started operations in the country in 1994.
