June 10 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said it has approved a senior unsecured loan of up to 5 million euro ($5.4 million) equivalent in Serbian dinars to UniCredit Bank Serbia (UCB) for on-lending to the domestic residential sector.
"The proceeds of the loan will be used to provide financing to UCB for gender-responsive on-lending to eligible sub-borrowers in the residential sector for investments supporting Green Economy Transition ("GET") - eligible residential renewable energies and energy efficient technologies," the EBRD said in a statement last week.
The loan is part of the Western Balkans Green Economy Financing Facility III - REpower (WB GEFF III), and will help the bank promote green economy investments in Serbia, the statement read.
UniCredit Bank Serbia was the fourth largest bank in terms of assets among 20 active lenders in the Balkan country at the end of 2023, according to central bank figures. It is 100%-owned by UniCredit Spa, Italy.
