September 15 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said it mulls lending up to 33.2 million euro ($47.6 million) to the Romanian city of Brasov to partly finance the repairs of its water and wastewater network and restructure an existing loan.

EBRD Mulls Up to 33.2 Mln Euro Loan to Romanian City of Brasov for Water/Wastewater Project

The Bank will finance the rehabilitation of the city's water and wastewater pipelines under a project whose total cost is 202.2 million euro, the EBRD said in a statement late on Friday.

As a result of this project, previously unserved area of Brasov county will receive water and wastewater services, the bank said. The Brasov water company will absorb water and wastewater operations from surrounding towns, many of which were not managed on a commercial basis.

Part of the EBRD funds will go to restructure an existing 12.2 million euro loan to the Brasov Water Company to take into account the company's transformation into a commercial company and regional operator, the statement said.

The loan is pending final approval on November 11.
