October 27 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Tuesday it will provide a loan of 15 million euro ($15.1 million) to Serbia's NLB Komercijalna Banka for on-lending to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The funds will contribute to SMEs' investments in environmental protection, workers' safety and product quality and safety in order to introduce and implement EU and other international quality standards, which will boost the competitiveness of Serbian small businesses, the EBRD said in a press release
At least 70% of the use of the proceeds is expected to be related to Green Economy Transition investments, the press release reads.
The loan is envisaged under the Sustainable Reboot SME Programme and the funding contributes to the objectives of the EBRD Financial Intermediary Framework (FIF), supporting the competitive and resilient transition qualities, the bank said.
NLB Komercijalna Banka AD Beograd, fully owned by Slovenia's Nova Ljubljanska Banka, is the third largest bank in Serbia with a market share of 10.7%.
