EBRD launches 35 mln euro financing facility in Moldova

October 4 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said it has launched a 35 million euro ($45.3 million) financing facility in Moldova to improve energy efficiency in the residential sector.

Over the next five years, loans under the EBRD Moldovan Residential Energy Efficiency Financing Facility (MoREEFF) will be provided through credit lines extended to commercial banks taking part in the programme, the EBRD said in a statement on Tuesday.

Moldovan lender Moldinconbank has already signed a 5.0 million euro transaction for on-lending to private individuals and condominium under MoREEFF, and other banks have also expressed interest in the financing programme, the statement added.

EBRD has committed about 700 million euro in Moldova’s economy so far.
