December 23 (SeeNews) - Zagrebacki Elektricni Tramvaj (ZET), the public transport services provider in the Croatian capital Zagreb, will buy 20 low-platform trams for some 40 million euro ($42 million), using a grant under the European Union's recovery and resilience facility (RRF), the transport ministry said on Friday.
It is the largest individual project within the national recovery and resilience plan, transport minister Oleg Butkovic said during a ceremony to sign a deal for the grant to ZET, according to a press release of the transport ministry.
The ministry plans to sign soon a deal for a similar grant to buy low-platform trams for Osijek, eastern Croatia, the only other city in the country that operates trams, Butkovic added.
Croatia would receive 5.5 billion euro in the form of grants under its 2021 - 2026 national recovery and resilience plan, aimed to help the country emerge stronger from the pandemic.
