Croatia's trade gap widens 7% in Jan-Apr

June 7 (SeeNews) - Croatia's trade deficit widened to 5.901 billion euro ($6.426 billion) in the first four months of this year, compared with a gap of 5.511 billion euro in the same period of 2023, the country's statistical office said on Friday.

Exports fell 1.2% on the year to 7.570 billion euro in the January-April period, while imports rose 2.3% to 13.471 billion euro, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics said in a statement, quoting preliminary data.

Croatia's exports to the European Union declined 5.3% on the year to 5.010 billion euro, whereas imports from the EU expanded 6.1% to 10.736 billion euro in the period under review.

Croatia's trade deficit declined to 16.6 billion euro last year from 17.8 billion euro in 2022.
