October 7 (SeeNews) - Croatia's trade deficit increased to 86.3 billion kuna ($11.2 billion/11.5 billion euro) in the first eight months of the year, compared with a gap of 47.1 billion kuna in the same period of 2021, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
Exports rose 34.4% on the year to 118.8 billion kuna in the January-August period, while imports grew 51.5% to 205.1 billion kuna, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics said in a statement, quoting preliminary data.
Croatia's exports to the European Union (EU) increased by 38.5% year-on-year in the review period, reaching 83.6 billion kuna, whereas the country's imports from the EU also rose by 38.5% to 144.4 billion kuna.
Croatia's trade deficit rose by 13% to 69.3 billion kuna last year.
