Croatia's trade gap expands 80% y/y in Jan-July

September 8 (SeeNews) - Croatia's trade deficit increased to 72.5 billion kuna ($9.67 billion/9.65 billion euro) in the first seven months of the year, compared with a gap of 40.2 billion kuna in the same period of 2021, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.

Exports rose 31.9% on the year to 103.4 billion kuna in the January-July period, while imports grew 48.3% to 175.9 billion kuna, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics said in a statement, quoting preliminary data.

Croatia's exports to the European Union (EU) increased by 35.8% year-on-year in the review period, reaching 72.7 billion kuna, whereas the country's imports from the EU rose by 38% to 126.7 billion kuna.

Croatia's trade deficit rose by 13% to 69.3 billion kuna last year.
