The transformer, with a nominal power of 120 MVA and rated voltage of 110 kV, is scheduled for on-site installation in Ireland in April, Koncar said in a monthly newsletter on Thursday.
The largest transformer ever manufactured for the Irish market was contracted in December 2022, enabling a connection of the wind farm to the national transmission network. The new 29-turbine wind farm will have a total installed capacity exceeding 100 MW.
Once completed in 2025, the wind farm will be capable of generating enough green energy to power over 66,000 homes and offset over 70 million kg of CO2 annually.
