Croatia's Jan-Sept New Car Sales Fall 49.7% Y/Y

October 5 (SeeNews) - Sales of new passenger cars in Croatia fell by 49.7% on the year to 35,187 vehicles in the first nine months of 2009, local market research agency Promocija Plus said on Monday.

Germany's Opel was the best-selling brand in the country of 4.4 million people with 3,996 cars sold through September, down from 9,746 in the same last year, Promocija Plus said in a statement sent to SeeNews.

Germany's Volkswagen was the runner-up with 3,331 cars sold through September versus 6,211 a year ago. France's Renault ranked third with 3,161 sold cars compared to 6,593 in the first nine months of 2008.

The best-selling models in Croatia in first nine months of 2009 were Opel Astra with 2,491 sold units, Volkswagen Golf with 1,404 and Renault Clio with 1,241.
