April 9 (SeeNews) - Croatian state-owned railway infrastructure operator HZ Infrastruktura said on Tuesday it has signed a 297,468 euro ($324,000) deal with local construction company Veselcic for the renovation of the building of the railway station in Zagreb’s neighbourhood Sesvete.
The aim is to improve travel quality on the Sesvete – Dugo Selo section, the busiest in Croatia, Ivan Krsic, CEO of HZ Infrastruktura, said in a press release. He noted that over 200 trains, including 140 passenger trains, traverse this section daily.
HZ Infrastruktura has earmarked more than 2.2 million euro for works on buildings of railway stations as part of a project to upgrade the local railway infrastructure. Funding comes from the European Union’s solidarity fund, the Croatian state budget and a loan from the European Investment Bank.
