November 6 (SeeNews) - Croatia's state-owned power utility Hrvatska Elektroprivreda (HEP) said on Monday its electricity generation unit signed an 11.1 million euro ($12 million) contract with local engineering company Koncar – Engineering (KET) to design and build a 13.54 MW solar power plant.
The solar park in Dugopolje, southern Croatia, will have connected power of 10 MW and its expected annual output of 17.2 million kilowatt hours will be enough to cover the consumption of some 6,000 households, HEP said in a press release.

The new facility will be the twelfth and the largest so far solar power plant in HEP's portfolio, according to CEO Frane Barbaric.
In the last five years, HEP has launched electricity generation facilitates with an overall capacity of some 90 MW. A project to build a cogeneration plant in Zagreb is nearing completion and a further nine projects with an overall capacity of 120 MW are either under construction or the company is seeking contractors to build them, he added.
Koncar KET is a fully-owned subsidiary of local electrical equipment manufacturer Koncar Elektroindustrija [ZSE:KOEI]. The parent company's shares traded 2.63% higher at 195 euro by 1532 local time on Monday on the Zagreb bourse.
