This compares with a full-year plan for a 3.56 billion kuna deficit in 2019, equivalent to 0.9% of GDP, the finance ministry said in a statement earlier this week, quoting data based on national methodology rules.

In the first half of 2018, the consolidated general government budget showed a surplus of 1.6 billion kuna, or 0.4% of GDP, the ministry said.

The central government budget was in deficit of 1.88 billion kuna in the first half of this year, equivalent to 0.5% of GDP, and little changed compared to the first six months of 2018. The central government budget revenue was up 8.5% on the year at 65 billion kuna, while expenditures rose by an annual 8.3% to nearly 67 billion kuna .

The full-year plan envisages a 4.19 billion kuna deficit in the central government budget in 2019, equivalent to 1.1% of GDP, with total expenditures of 140.27 billion kuna versus 136.08 billion kuna of revenue.
