August 16 (SeeNews) - Ukrainian gas exploration and production company Ukrgasvydobuvannya has signed two contracts with Croatia's Crosco Integrated Drilling & Well Services to drill 12 wells in the Poltava region of Ukraine, Ukraine's prime minister, Volodymyr Groysman, said on Wednesday.
This is the first project in the Ukrainian firm's history to be performed by a foreign contractor using advanced drilling equipment, Groysman said on his Facebook page.
Groysman added that the project will strengthen Ukraine's economy and help it achieve energy independence.
Earlier this month, Ukrgasvydobuvannya said it has signed a deal with Crosco for the drilling of 12 natural gas wells in Egypt and Iraq starting in the third quarter of 2017.
Zagreb-based Crosco is an integrated onshore and offshore drilling and well services contractor. It is part of Croatian oil and gas company INA.
