The index tracking consumer expectations went up 1.3 percentage points on a monthly comparison basis in May, while in annual terms it rose by 12.1 points, according to figures published by the Croatian central bank on Friday.
The consumer sentiment index increased by 3.6 percentage points month-on-month and added 11.6 percentage points year-on-year in May.
The consumers’ opinion about the development of the general economic situation in Croatia over the past 12 months improved by 2.4 percentage points month on-month and was higher by 16.2 points year-on-year in May.
Regarding their expectations about the economy in the next 12 months, consumers were less optimistic in May than they had been a month earlier, with the index down 0.4 points. Compared to May 2023, the index measuring the expectations about the economic situation advanced 14.3 percentage points.
