Croatia's building permits up 3.6% y/y in 2023

February 14 (SeeNews) - The number of building permits issued in Croatia rose by 3.6% on the year to 11,564 in 2023, the statistical office said on Wednesday.

The number of permits issued for buildings increased 3.2% year-on-year to 10,025 in 2023, while the number of permits for civil engineering projects rose 6.1% to 1,539, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics said in a monthly report.

Out of all permits issued in 2023, 9,113 covered new construction projects, while 2,451 were issued for reconstruction works.

Based on the number of permits issued last year 18,803 dwellings are planned to be built, down 1.0% on the year.

A total of 987 building permits were issued alone in December 2023, down 16.4% on the year.

The number of permits issued for buildings fell 7.8% year-on-year to 881 in December 2023, while the number of permits for civil engineering projects dropped 27.4% to 106. Out of all permits issued in December 2023, 754 covered new construction projects, while 233 were issued for reconstruction works.

Based on the number of permits issued in December, 1,853 dwellings are planned to be built, up 5.8% on the year.

The number of building permits issued in Croatia rose by 5.8% year-on-year to 11,165 in 2022, according to figures released earlier by the same bureau.
