Area under wheat was 4,000 hectares larger in 2019, which resulted in a higher harvested volume, the statistical office said in a statement last week.

The yield per hectare rose to 5.5 tonnes this year from 5.4 tonnes in 2018.

Croatia's barley output increased by 14% to 260,000 tonnes this year, with the yield per hectare climbing to 4.9 tonnes from 4.5 tonnes in 2018, the statistical office said.

This year's oats production jumped 26.7% to 57,000 tonnes, with yields increasing to 3.0 tonnes per hectare from 2.8 tonnes per hectare in 2018.

Rapeseed production, on the other hand, fell almost 36% to 100,000 tonnes after the harvested area declined by 15,000 hectares this year, the statement said. Yields dropped to 2.5 tonnes per hectare from 2.8 tonnes per hectare last year.

The provisional data is based on information on the state of early crops as of August 15, the statistical office said.
