This year's yield is seen at 8.0 tonnes per hectare, down from 9.1 tonnes per hectare in 2018, the office said in a statement earlier this week, citing estimates based on data available as of September 1.

The estimated production of sugar beet is also seen down, by 7.2% to 720,000 tonnes this year, even though yields went up to 60 tonnes per hectare from 55.2 tonnes per hectare in 2018, the statement said. It provided no figures for the harvested areas.

Soybean output is expected to shrink by 5.3% to 232,000 tonnes in 2019 with yields dropping to 2.9 tonnes per hectare from 3.2 tonnes per hectare a year earlier.

Sunflower production is anticipated to decline by 3.6% to 107,000 tonnes this year with yield almost unchanged at 2.9 tonnes per hectare, compared to 3.0 tonnes per hectare in 2018.
