March 22 (SeeNews) - Project company Rijeka Gateway, a joint venture between Danish logistics group Maersk and Croatian logistics firm Enna Logic set up to build a container terminal on Croatia's northern Adriatic coast, said on Friday it will appoint Peter Corfitsen as its chief executive officer.
"Looking forward to becoming part of this exciting project and business that carry such importance to Rijeka, Croatia, and Central Europe, truly becoming the gateway for trade and a vehicle for further growth and development in the region," Corfitsen said, as quoted in a LinkedIn post by Rijeka Gateway.
Corfitsen joined A.P. Moller – Maersk in 1990 as a shipping trainee and has since then worked in various leadership and strategic roles in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. During the past thee years, he was CEO of Maersk Air Cargo, a business unit that serves Maersk as its in-house aircraft operator.
The 380 million euro ($408 million) Rijeka Gateway container terminal is scheduled for completion in 2025.
