Croatian parl adopts 2024 budget with 1.9% deficit

November 30 (SeeNews) - Croatia's parliament on Thursday approved the state budget for 2024, with a projected deficit equivalent to 1.9% of the expected gross domestic product (GDP), an increase from the budget gap of 0.3% planned for 2023.

The budget plan was endorsed in a 77-40 vote in the 151-seat assembly, according to data published on the parliament's website.

The government will be able to borrow up to 7.8 billion euro ($8.5 billion) on the local and international markets next year under the adopted budget.

Total revenue is projected at 28.5 billion euro, a 3% increase compared to the expected amount for this year. Expenditure is projected at 32.6 billion euro, up 11.2% from the amount planned for 2023.

The budget is based on assumptions of 3.1% inflation and real economic growth of 2.8% for 2024.
