Croatian Insurers Jan-Sept Premium Income Rises 7.11% Y/Y

The insurance companies operating in Croatia reported a combined premium income of 7.38 billion kuna ($1.38 billion/1.03 million euro) for the first nine months of 2008, up from 6.89 billion kuna a year earlier, the country's financial watchdog data showed.

Non-life insurance premiums totalled 5.58 billion kuna and life insurance premiums accounted for the remainder, data of the Croatian Financial Services Supervision Agency (HANFA) indicated.

Croatian insurers reported a combined premium income of 9.05 billion kuna for 2007, up from 8.19 billion kuna a year earlier.

A total of 27 insurers operate in the Adriatic country of 4.4 million people.
