November 6 (SeeNews) - Croatia recorded the sharpest monthly increase in the volume of retail sales among the European Union (EU) member states in September after being among the countries with the biggest decline in August, Eurostat said on Wednesday.
Croatia's seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade grew 2.6% on the month in September, after declining 1.1% in the month before, data published by Eurostat showed.
Ireland followed with a 2.4% month-on-month increase.
On the opposite side of the table, retail sales in Portugal fell by 2.4% on the month, followed by Latvia with a 1% decline and Slovenia with a 0.7% drop.
On an annual basis, Romania posted the sharpest increase among the EU members, of 7%. Luxembourg came in second with 5.8% growth on the year, followed by Ireland with a 5.2% rise.
