November 11 (SeeNews) - The number of building permits issued in Croatia in September fell by 26.8% on the year to 984, the State Statistics Bureau said.
The number of building permits issued in the first nine months of 2009 increased by 3.5% on the year, the statistics office said on its website.
In September alone, the number of permits issued for buildings fell to 849 with a total volume of 1.2 million cubic metres, from 1,190 permits with a volume of 1.46 billion cubic metres a year ago. Permits issued for buildings in September accounted for 86.3% of the total, while the remaining 13.7% were issued for civil engineering works.
The value of construction works in September decreased to 2.18 billion kuna ($449 million/300 million euro) from 5.36 billion kuna a year earlier.
