Croatia Jan-Oct Tourist Numbers Rise 1.0% Y/Y, Overnights Up 2.0% Y/Y - Table

December 8 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists staying in Croatia through October rose by 1.0% on the year to some 10.893 million, data of the country's Statistics Office showed on Monday.

In the first ten months of the year overnight stays were up by 2.0% to 56.252 million, the office said.

Tourism is a key industry for Croatia. Last year the Adriatic country reported 11.2 million tourists, a rise of 7.0% on the year, and 56 million overnights, up by 6.0%.

Croatia's Tourism Ministry expects 3.0% to 5.0% growth of tourism revenue and up to three percent rise in the number of tourists in 2008. Last year the country's tourism revenue rose by 7.1% to 6.7 billion euro ($8.6 billion).

Tourism generated 18% of Croatia's gross domestic product in 2007.
