October 13 (SeeNews) - Croatia's government gave on Thursday its initial consent to majority state-owned shipping company Jadroplov [ZSE:JDPL] to take out a $16.3 million (16.8 million euro) loan from state development bank HBOR to buy the country's first liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) ship.

Jadroplov will finance some 35% of the cost of the purchase, or some $8.8 million, with own funds and will provide the rest with the borrowing from HBOR, the minister of sea, transport and infrastructure, Oleg Butkovic, told a weekly cabinet meeting as seen in a video recording published on the government's website. .

The purchase of the ship is in line with the Jadroplov's strategy to become a green, environmentally sustainable company, Butkovic added.

The loan will have a fixed interest rate of 4.15% and 10-year maturity.

The company's shares last traded on Wednesday on the Zagreb bourse, ending 3.10% lower at 62.50 kuna ($8.0/8.3 euro).
