Credit Europe Bank Romania To Hike Capital by 125% to 675 Mln Lei (176 Mln Euro)

October 9 (SeeNews) - Credit Europe Bank Romania said on Thursday it will raise its capital by 125% to 675 million lei ($242 million/176 million euro) to back its operations in the 2008-2009 period and consolidate its market position.

"The fresh funds will also help secure the stability of the bank in the context of the global financial crisis,” the bank said in a statement.

Further details were not immediately available.

Credit Europe Bank Romania (www.crediteruope.ro) is majority owned by Dutch-based Credit Europe Bank. It had a 1.8% market share in terms of assets in Romania at the end of 2007. It has more than 400,000 clients.
