The decrease was mainly due to fall of food prices, the statistics bureau said in a statement.
The average monthly salary in Moldova, one of the poorest European countries, rose by a real 8.1% on the year to 2,793 lei in the second quarter, the statement said.
Farmers were the lowest paid employees in Moldova with an average monthly salary of 1,353 lei equivalent to 103.2% of the consumer basket cost in the second quarter.
