In the third quarter alone, the EBITDA of Cosmote’s Albanian unit AMC decreased by 14.7% on the year to 9.9 million euro, Greek telecoms group OTE said in its third-quarter financial report.
"Reflecting aggressive pricing competition, AMC’s EBITDA margin dropped to 41.1% in Q3’12, despite ongoing efforts to optimize the organization’s cost structure."
AMC’s customer base edged up 0.3% on the year to nearly 1.83 million subscribers at the end of September.
The nine-month revenues of AMC fell by 7.6% on the year to 67.1 million euro. The third-quarter revenue fell 6.6% on the year, negatively affected by aggressive pricing offers targeting both the prepaid segment and business customers.
In data, AMC has achieved 95% population coverage through its cost-efficient 3G network.
Albania has a population of just over 2.8 million.
Cosmote also operates units in Greece, Albania and Bulgaria.
