BUCHAREST (Romania), October 17 (SeeNews) – Central European Media Enterprises (CME) said on Thursday that its operating income before depreciation and amortization (OIBDA) from business in Romania rose by 1.7% year-on-year at actual rates to $59.7 million (54.1 million euro) in the first nine months of 2019.
Net revenues from operations in Romania fell to $126.8 million in the period under review, down by an annual 7.28%, the international broadcaster said in an unaudited interim financial report.
In the third quarter, OIBDA operations in Romania rose by 8.5% on the year to $16.9 million, while net revenues fell by 3.5% to $39.6 million.
"We saw a very successful start to the fall season, resulting in higher prime time audience share in each of our country operations during the quarter, and widening our lead over our nearest competitor in three segments. On the strength of that audience performance, we grew TV ad market share in four countries, led by the Czech Republic, which continued to deliver impressive results," CME co-CEO Christoph Mainusch said.
CME's portfolio in Romania comprises TV channels PRO TV, PRO 2, PRO X, PRO GOLD, PRO CINEMA, PRO TV International and PRO TV Chisinau.
CME's total OIBDA which includes operations in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia, rose by 15.8% year-on-year to $152.8 million in the first nine months of 2019, while total net revenues fell by 1.4% to $469 million.
