The Chinese company said in a statement on Friday its Hong Kong-based unit will serve as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor on the scheme under a cooperation agreement signed with the local government a day earlier. It will supply 40 sets of 2.5 MW GW121/2500 (120HH) Goldwind turbines.

The financing for the project was provided by the China-Central and Eastern Europe Investment Cooperation Fund as well as by Asporta and O-Zone AD. Construction of the facility has already kicked off with grid connection scheduled for end-2015.

Serbia has no operational wind power capacity.

In Southeast Europe, Goldwind has been involved in the development of a 50 MW wind park in Romania.
