The first loan agreement, totalling 5.0 million euro, was signed on Thursday in Sofia, BDB said in a statement.

BDB will use the credit line to provide long-term loans to small businesses.

An agreement for a second credit line worth 30 million euro will be signed within a month, the statement also said.

BDB (www.bdbank.bg), in which the state holds a 99.97% stake, is the successor of Encouragement Bank which was renamed last year to indicate it will function as an export-promoting development bank.
