Carrefour opens first hypermarket in Bulgaria’s Stara Zagora

December 21 (SeeNews) - French retailer Carrefour opened its first hypermarket in the southeastern Bulgarian city of Stara Zagora on December 20, the company’s franchisee in the country said.

The store, located at City Mall Stara Zagora shopping centre, has a retail area of 5,300 square metres and employs 220, CMB Bulgaria said in a statement on Thursday.

On Friday, the company will launch a new supermarket in the Black Sea port city of Varna, expanding its chain to eight Carrefour hypermarkets and as many supermarkets, located in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Stara Zagora and Ruse.

CMB Bulgaria is owned by Greece's Marinopoulos, Carrefour's exclusive franchisee in Southeast Europe.
