Bulgaria's YTD power output falls 20%, consumption edges down

February 13 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's electricity production declined by an annual 19.68% to 4,950 GWh between January 1 and February 12, the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) said.

Domestic power consumption slipped by 0.80% on the year to 5,265 GWh, ESO said in a weekly data release on Monday.

The country turned to a power trade deficit of 315.6 GWh in the review period from a surplus of 854.2 GWh a year earlier.

The volume of renewable energy in the transmission network jumped by 41.84% to some 287.8 GWh, whereas the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system grew by 26.96% to some 287 GWh.

At the same time, the output of hydropower plants sank by 28.03% year-on-year to 272 GWh in the period under review.
