Bulgaria's YTD power output falls 12%, consumption slips 4.6%

May 13 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's electricity production slid by an annual 11.73% to 14,329 GWh between January 1 and May 12, the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) said on Monday.

Domestic power consumption fell by 4.55% on the year to 14,013 GWh, ESO said in a weekly data release.

The country's power trade surplus plunged by 79.62% year-on-year to 316.7 GWh in the review period.

The volume of renewable energy in the transmission network surged by 44.86% to 1,028 GWh, whereas the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system leapt by 26.91% to some 1,051 GWh.

In parallel, the output of hydropower plants rose by an annual 11.67% to nearly 1,247 GWh in the period under review.
