Bulgaria's YTD power output falls 11%, consumption slips 4.4%

May 28 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's electricity production went down by 11.07% year-on-year to 15,432 GWh between January 1 and May 26, the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) said.

Domestic power consumption slipped by an annual 4.4% to 15,179 GWh, ESO said in a weekly data release on Monday.

The country's power trade surplus plunged by 82.86% on the year to 253.2 GWh in the review period.

The volume of renewable energy in the transmission network jumped by 45.05% to 1,159 GWh, whereas the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system added 28.68% to some 1,182 GWh.

In parallel, the output of hydropower plants increased by 14.73% year-on-year to nearly 1,493 GWh in the period under review.
