Bulgaria's YTD power output drops 19%, consumption slips 1.6%

March 11 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's electricity production sank by an annual 19.04% to 7,898 GWh between January 1 and March 10, the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) said on Monday.

Domestic power consumption fell by 1.64% on the year to 8,283 GWh, ESO said in a weekly data release.

The country turned to a power trade deficit of 385.3 GWh in the review period from a surplus of 1,334 GWh a year earlier.

The volume of renewable energy in the transmission network leapt by 35.33% to some 457.8 GWh, whereas the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system added 14.03% to some 457.2 GWh.

At the same time, the output of hydropower plants slipped by 11.73% year-on-year to 489.8 GWh in the period under review.
