Bulgaria's YTD power output down 21%, consumption falls 2.7%

February 26 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's electricity production dropped by 20.74% on the year to some 6,450 GWh between January 1 and February 25, the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) said on Monday.

In parallel, domestic power consumption fell by 2.66% year-on-year to 6,803 GWh, ESO said in its latest weekly data release.

The country swung to a power trade deficit of 353.5 GWh in the review period from a surplus of 1,148 GWh a year earlier.

Meanwhile, the volume of renewable energy in the transmission network leapt by 36.54% in annual terms to some 386.2 GWh, while the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system added 15.79% to some 383.2 GWh.

The output of hydropower plants, on the other hand, lost 20.38% on the year to roughly 378 GWh in the period under review.
