Bulgaria's YTD power output down 16%, consumption falls 4.6%

April 16 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's electricity production fell by 16.11% on the year to some 11,586 GWh between January 1 and April 14, the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) said.

In parallel, domestic power consumption declined by 4.57% year-on-year to 11,590 GWh, ESO said in a weekly data release on Monday.

The country swung to a power trade deficit of 3.9 GWh in the review period from a surplus of 1,666 GWh a year earlier.

The volume of renewable energy in the transmission network grew by an annual 42.57% to some 764.6 GWh, while the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system increased by 23.58% to some 787.7 GWh.

At the same time, the output of hydropower plants added 4.81% on the year to roughly 853.5 GWh in the period under review.
