Bulgaria’s YTD electricity production, consumption rise

SOFIA (Bulgaria), September 12 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria’s power output rose by an annual 3.36% to 31,362 GWh in the period January 1 – September 10, according to data of the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO).

Electricity consumption increased by 5.82% on the year to 27,428 GWh during the review period, data published on the ESO website shows.

Power exports fell 11.08% year-on-year to 3,934 GWh in the period under review. Bulgaria halted electricity exports from January 13 to February 9 to meet increased domestic demand amidst harsh winter weather conditions.

Renewable energy in the transmission system increased by 10.01% on the year to 909,485 MWh in the January 1 – September 10 period, while renewable energy in the distribution system rose by 3.44% to 1,351,038 MWh.
