January 29 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian thermal power plant (TPP) Maritsa 3 [BUL:MR3] said its standalone net loss shrank to 14.5 million levs ($8.1 million/7.4 million euro) in 2023 from some 66.7 million levs a year earlier on the back of lower expenses.

The company's operating revenue dropped to some 25.2 million levs last year from 33.3 million levs in 2022, TPP Maritsa 3 said in a financial statement on Friday. Product sales generated 21.1 million levs, compared to 9.5 million levs a year earlier, whereas other sales slumped to 2.5 million levs from 11.7 million levs.

The coal-fired power plant narrowed its total expenses to 39.7 million levs in the review period from 107.3 million levs the prior year, mostly due to a plunge in other economic expenses, to 56,000 levs from 56.9 million levs.

The plant, which has one functioning 120-MW unit, is located in the town of Dimitrovgrad in southern Bulgaria.

In November, Maritsa 3 extended the maturity of a 4 million levs bond by five years and lowered its coupon rate.

Shares in TPP Maritsa 3 last traded at 134.628 levs on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange's BaSE market, bourse data showed.
