March 11 (SeeNews) - Total revenue from tourist overnights in Bulgaria leapt by an annual 17.4% in January to reach 91.1 million levs ($50.9 million/46.6 million euro), the statistical office said on Monday.
Revenue from domestic tourists amounted to 50.9 million levs, while foreign visitors generated revenue of 40.2 million levs, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a regular report.
The total number of tourist overnights edged down 0.2% year-on-year to 1.03 million in the review month. Overnights spent by foreigners came in at 421,900.
In January, the total number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria fell by an annual 1.7% to 432,200. Of those, 141,300 were foreign visitors, down 1% on the year, while the number of domestic tourists lost 2% to 290,800, the NSI said.
