Revenue from foreign visitors grew by 33.4% on the year to 137.4 million levs, whereas domestic tourists generated revenue of some 80 million levs, or 27.5% more than a year earlier, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a regular report.
The total number of tourist overnights increased by 15.9% year-on-year to roughly 2.92 million in the review month. Overnights spent by foreign citizens came in at some 1.72 million.
In September, the total number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria rose by an annual 16.6% to 910,500. Of those, 421,000 were foreign visitors, up 21.5% on the year, while the number of domestic tourists added 12.6% to 489,500, the NSI said.
