The construction of the facility with 4.5 megawatts (MW) of photovoltaic and 2.0 MW of wind power generation installed capacity will start in early 2009 and is scheduled to end in 2012, BTA said.
The project will be implemented on 20 hectares close to the Black Sea port of Burgas. In the winter lower photovoltaic output will be compensated by higher wind power generation.
Solar BG is owned by several Bulgarian individuals.
Bulgaria, which joined the European Union in 2007, should generate at least 11% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2010 and 16% by 2020 under agreements with the bloc. As a comparison, the country generated five to eight percent of the electricity from renewable sources, mainly water, in the past years.
